Higgins Paints is a small breeding program located in Malaga,
New Mexico, 25 miles from the Carlsbad Caverns. We also have a farm
& we raise alfalfa, oats hay, beardless wheat hay & sudan hay
to sell & to feed our horses. We do all the work ourselves so that's
why the riding has kinda been put on the back burner. We used to rope
& run barrels, and years ago we also raced mules.

We have 2 stallions. Lucy Lightning is a brown homozygous
tobiano, homozygous for the black gene stallion. He is nice minded horse
with good conformation. He will always throw a paint & he will never
throw a sorrel or chestnut. Cinco Milagro is a brown (homozygous for
the black gene) AQHA stallion. He has his race ROM. His
pedigree is full of racing champions. Cinco has a good
disposition & conformation.
Our babies are imprinted at birth. They are wormed monthly
& recieve all the needed vaccinations. They are handled & halter
broke but still allowed to be babies & enjoy life.
Our mares are well breed & gentle. Most of them have
been used for barrel racing, trail riding, or ranch work before going
to the broodmare band.
We are not a fancy facility but we are here nearly 24 hours
a day so the horses here are watched closely. Our facilities are safe
& we take very good care of your mares. We have very successfull
conception rates, and this year we will also be shipping cooled semen.
